London Calling

My cousin, Rachel, and I decided to take a girls' trip to London. Both of us are on a bit of a budget, so with London being such an expensive city we had to look for a place to stay that we were able to afford but that wasn't in a sketchy neighborhood.

We found The Wyndham Hotel in Marylebone which is very cute, but ridiculously small. Going into it, we knew that we wouldn't have a toilet in the room (it's down the hall), but we had no idea it was going to be like this...

We can't stop laughing. It's awesome. The ritzy hotels that Jorge and I get put up in are great, but none of them have been THIS entertaining.

LOL!! Why didn't they at least put opaque glass in the shower door!!

Did you enjoy your stay there though?

A couple of years ago we went to Mexico (pre-pandemic ;) ) and stayed at the Grand Sirenis Resort down in the Mayan Riviera. It was a very nice resort. No real complaints about it but the bathrooms had a great giant hole cut in the wall so you could look right in there from the bedroom. There was a stall for both the toilet and the shower but the doors didn't shut tightly and were made of opaque glass so you could see the shadowy image of people as they hunkered down on the toilet or were showering. The bathtub was exposed to the world. BUT... the bathroom door had a lock on it in spite of the fact there was a hole in the wall large enough to walk through.

I'll see if I have any pictures of it and maybe post them on my blog. :-)

My first rip to London I stayed in a place like this. But the shower was down the hall too.

I have never been "across the pond" but you have definately instilled in me the fact the National Lampoon's Eupopean Vacation is not fiction!

LOL.. I did a ferry crossing between Portland, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia like that. Toilet and shower down the hall. We were stuck down in steerage... but not fun steerage with all the dancing on the tables like on the Titanic. Our steerage was like a janitor's closet next to the engine room.

That's about half the size of our bathroom.

Welcome to England! You should come up north and see Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland, York and a few other places...

Mind you, our hotels aren't as posh as those in London.....

On second thoughts, give Sunderland a miss.

Ok, when you said the toilet was down the hall I foolishly assumed that you meant the entire bathroom was down the hall. How stupid of me. Obviously you would put a shower in the corner! /sarc

That shower is amazing.

Lol, looks like you girls had a lot of fun.

Ignore the chap above who says to go up North. There is nothing up North except sheep and racists (joke!!! :P :P :P)

I'm a Londoner myself and well done on choosing Marylebone. It's a nice area.

Definitely check out the kebab places on Edgware Road - quality!! Go up to Camden and have a look at the crazy shops they have there.

If you have a fat purse then do a spot of shopping on Oxford Street and if you have spare time, visit me on Goodge Street :D

Avinash: I think you have confused 'Up North' with Wales...

You could always consider it a really luxurious bathroom (or part of one, anyway) with its own bed and TV. I tend to be very "glass-half-full" about these kinds of things (or, in this case, "hotel-room-half-full-of-shower").

On my first trip to London I stayed in a place like that too. Well, my parents had a room like that with a shower, my shower was down the hall. And the hall lights were on a timer so you had to be really quick in the loo.

Now I live in London. I'd offer you a place to stay, but there's the space issue... again. I don't even have a living room!
