monsoon!

well, this looks like the end of days. jorge and i are getting ready to board the ark. the house is flooded in certain spots. the wind has blown out screens. pieces of the trees have blown onto the roof. there is now a LAKE in our front yard. we both woke up at 3:30am because the wind was so loud we couldn't sleep, even with ear plugs in. and it's cooooold. nunu's shivering even under the blankets.

this is my third winter in hawaii and it's definitely the worst one yet. i might even be more fond of snowy winter days back home in milwaukee over this!

Yup the storm was nuts, got almost 10 inches of rain in Makakilo the last 9 hours... and I live on the DRY side LOL. The one thing about weather here...if ya don't like it, wait, it will change fast. Already stopped over here, and breaks in the clouds. Hope you weren't flooded much.

Yeesh... by all means, be careful. If there was a way to conjure that kind of weather this way, I'd take it off your hands; especially since we have a lake 22 feet below normal level.

Wow! I always thought of Hawaii in the stereotypical way - beaches, warmth, sun. Not cold with monsoon weather!

Intense - any chance of photos?

Holy crap! I saw the videos on Jorge's blog. Hope you guys didn't get flooded too badly.

My husband and I lived in an old century home last winter that was converted into apartments. It would go from freezing to raining and the drain pipe would be frozen. So every time it rained, we would get a massive flood through our front door. Once we came home and the water was about a foot above the bottom of the door.. It was horrible. I'm glad to own my own home now and be out of that basement apartment! lol

hope you managed to stay dry!
